월드컵이 끝나고

이탈리아가 예상대로 우승했다.
애초에 나는 이탈리아와 브라질 가운데서 우승팀이 나올 것으로 예상했다. 이유는 간단하다. 그들은 수비수가 탁월하니까.

상대적으로 공격수와 공격루트는 유럽 유수의 팀들이 다들 엇비슷하다. 시간이 흐를수록 더 그럴 것이다.

암튼 이탈리아는 정말 생긴 것처럼 멋지게 축구를 한 나라로 다시한번 기억에 남는다.

축구는 손이 아닌, 발로 하는 경기다. 그래서 손보다 정교하지 못하다. 가끔은 못하는 팀이 이기기도 한다.

하지만 기본기가 어느 정도 갖춰지지 않은 상태에서는 요행을 바라기 쉽지 않다. 우리나라가 그렇다.

잘은 모르지만, 내 생각에 축구의 기본기는 자기한테 볼이 왔을 때 뺏기지 않고 일단 자기 발에 붙이는 것이고 그 다음에 다른 선수에게 의도한 대로 패스를 하는 것이다. 역주행을 한 설기현 선수를 유럽의 스카우터들이 좋아하는 이유가 바로 거기에 있다. 역주행을 하든말든 자기한테 온 볼은 자기것으로 만드는 실력이 기본이라는 것이다.

유럽 선수들의 경기가 스피디하게 느껴지는 것은 바로 이런 기본기가 잘 되어있기 때문이다. 우리나라 선수는 패스를 제대로 받지 못해 볼이 튕겨 나가고 결국 상대편에게 볼을 넘기기 일쑤다.

인생도 비슷하다. 개인기란 남을 웃기라고 있는 게 아니다. 자기 밥상에 놓인 밥을 일단은 자기 숫가락으로 입에 넣을 수 있어야 한다. 숫가락질 제대로 못하면 밥알을 흘리게 되고 그게 반복되면 결국 바닥에 떨어지는 밥알을 우연히 먹으며 배를 채울 수 밖에 없다.

가을부턴 맨체스터 유나이티드의 경기를 볼 수 있다.

이사

이번주에 또 이사간다. 새로 가는 집에서는 몇일 살지 못하고 떠나겠네...그래서 이짐 저짐 나누려면 일이 많을 것 같다.
낯선 동네로 가는 게 아니어서 좋다.
그러고보니...그 동네에서 4년이나 살았었다.

December 26, 2002 - The first red card of Rooney's professional career came at St Andrews. Having been brought on as a second-half substitute, the 17-year-old set off on a charge towards goal but lost control. With Birmingham defender Steve Vickers collecting possession, Rooney leapt in two-footed on the veteran centre-back and was instantly ordered off by David Elleray.

October 4, 2003 - An unsavoury episode in Rooney's career took place at White Hart Lane where he confronted referee Dermot Gallacher late in a game won 3-0 by Tottenham, and was booked for a petty show of dissent. It was his fifth booking of the season, which was less than two months old.

December 13, 2003 - Even Rooney thought he had gone too far on a trip to Portsmouth. Having scored the goal which proved the winner in a 2-1 victory, Rooney became embroiled in a clash with Pompey's Steve Stone whom he shoved to the floor. Believing a red card was coming his way, Rooney headed for the tunnel, but referee Uriah Rennie produced only a yellow and Everton team-mate Kevin Campbell had to call the youngster back.

November 17, 2004 - England took on Spain at the Bernabeu and Rooney had to be substituted for his own good. After two wild challenges on Iker Casillas and Carlos Marchena, and no little sniping at referee George Kasnaferis and several Spanish players, Sven-Goran Eriksson hauled him off after 42 minutes. He had been booked once and a red card looked imminent. Rooney trudged off, throwing to the turf his black armband, which the England squad had been wearing in a tribute to the late Emlyn Hughes.

December 26, 2004 - Manchester United were a goal up against Bolton at Old Trafford. Tal Ben Haim challenged Rooney but no foul was given. As he got up, he shoved the Israeli centre-half in the face and he responded by crashing to the ground. Rooney was later suspended by the Football Association for three games, including the Carling Cup semi-final first leg at Chelsea.

September 7, 2005 - With England frustrated by Northern Ireland in their World Cup qualifier at Windsor Park, Rooney let his temper get the better of him. He was booked for a rash challenge on Keith Gillespie and almost picked up a second yellow card straight away for another foul on Chris Baird. Attempts by David Beckham and Rio Ferdinand to calm him down only produced invective from the United striker.

September 14, 2005 - Rooney reacted to a harsh booking by sarcastically applauding Kim Milton Nielsen's decision right under the referee's nose. It left the man who famously sent David Beckham off during England's World Cup clash with Argentina in 1998 with little alternative other than to brandish a second yellow and dismiss Rooney from the field.

July 1, 2006 - Given a straight red card in the World Cup quarter-final against Portugal in Gelsenkirchen. Rooney was dismissed following after a foul on Ricardo Carvalho and a confrontation with United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.

간혹 들려오는 뻐꾸기 소리가 진정하라고 말해주는 것 같다.
근데 집에 있는 뻐꾸기 자명종 시계 소리하고 창밖에서 들려오는 뻐꾸기 소리가 거의 같다. 뒷산에 운동 나갈때마다 뻐꾸기가 어떻게 생겼는지 숲속 나무들을 유심히 살펴보지만...까치만 보이고...눈에 안띈다. 대체 어디 숨어있는건지 원...
